Washington Heights

The vibe in Washington Heights is a mix of meringue beats and slow jazz, depending on whether you're walking up the avenues or wandering around the neighborhood's side streets in the northern portion of the borough of Manhattan. The area is named for Fort Washington and is bordered by Harlem to the south, along 155th Street, Inwood to the north along Hillside Avenue, the Hudson River to the west, and the Harlem River and Coogan's Bluff to the east.

It boasts a thriving arts and culture scene, featuring the annual Art Stroll festival and numerous galleries, performances and markets.

A tight-knit multi-cultural community, this neighborhood has a mix of multi-family apartment buildings and condos where you can sample a wide-variety of ethnic foods while strolling the parks or the Hudson riverbank.
